About Family Traditions Catering

Family Traditions Catering is owned and operated by Chef Suzanne Arceneaux. Suzanne is originally from East Tennessee but moved to Baton Rouge in February of 2006 to attend Louisiana Culinary Institute.  While attending culinary school, Suzanne worked as a server at Outback Steakhouse.  It was at Outback that Suzanne met and started dating coworker Brett Arceneaux.  While dating, Suzanne and Brett discovered that, while they were raised in different states with different cultures, family and the traditions that come along with them are the most important things in life.  The two were married shortly after and the values of family and traditions started a dream that has now become reality.

In 2006, as Suzanne began her culinary experiences, she worked for a local family as their personal chef, cooking nightly meals for their family of six. She also has worked for Juban’s Restaurant in 2007 as a catering, pantry, and sauté cook. After a short stint in Alexandria, Louisiana for Brett’s job training, they were moved back to Baton Rouge in August of 2008.

Maxwell’s Market on Perkins Road was the next adventure in store for Suzanne. Shortly after being hired, she was offered the Executive Chef/Kitchen Manager position and took over the daily specials and catering aspect of the business.  It was here, along with the knowledge from past jobs and school, that the Arceneaux family made the decision to take Suzanne’s talents to the next level.  Family Traditions Catering came to life while day dreaming one afternoon and soon started to take shape. They purchased a home in 2009 along with an 800 square foot building.  Their dream was to one day renovate the building into Suzanne’s catering kitchen. After much prayer and careful consideration Suzanne and Brett took that leap of faith. Suzanne resigned from Maxwell’s Market at the end of November 2010, and soon began the renovations.  Check out our Photo Gallery to see our renovation process!

Suzanne loves her church, enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing with their Boxer, Mia and attending SEC football games and tailgating—along with her passion for entertaining, cooking and EATING!

“There is nothing more comforting to me than being with family and friends to share and fellowship over a meal, and to share and develop all of the different traditions that come along with that special time together.  Our hope with opening “Family Traditions Catering” is that we are able to share some of OUR “Family Traditions” along the way!

These are the people that have taught me the most important “recipes” in life—Faith, Family, Friends and of course Food!”—Chef Suzanne
